About

This is GREENFIELD CRICKET CLUB'S home-on-the-web

Greenfield is one of the Saddleworth villages situated in the western foothills of the Pennines. Our postcode says we are part of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, but this is hotly disputed by many locals who insist they still live in the West Riding of Yorkshire. This is further complicated by the fact that we are affiliated to the Lancashire Cricket Board! Manchester is 13 miles to the South-West, and Huddersfield is 15 miles to the North-East.

The Club was founded in 1899 and was a founder member of the Saddleworth & District Cricket League of which it remained a member until 2015 when the league merged with the Central Lancashire Cricket League to form the J.W. Lees Brewery Pennine Cricket League. Following the demise of the Pennine League after two seasons the club joined the Greater Manchester Cricket League. We run three open age teams. The 1st. XI plays in the G.M.C.L. Premier Division, the 2nd. XI plays in the  G.M.C.L. Division 2 East and our 3rd. XI plays in the G.M.C.L. Sunday Division 1C.

We have youth teams at U17, U15, U13, U11 and U9 who enjoy the services of qualified volunteer coaches. We have an active Girls Cricket section who work with qualified coaches Fred Bottom and Craig Lees.
