Under 13s
2021 Season
Our U13s will be coached and managed this season by one of our ECB level 2 coaches Chris Sleight, who returns to manage the U13s following seasons coaching the U11s and U15s.
Matches will usually be played on Sunday mornings, and training will take place on Thursday evenings alongside our U15 squad from 6:30pm to approximately 8pm. We are delighted to be once again also arranging to welcome back ECB level 3 coach Ben Johnson, who has supported the club and assisted in developing our young cricketers over recent years. 2020 Season
Adam Robinson, our first XI captain for 2021, coached our Under 13s for the 2020 season. This is Adam's end of season summary:
In a truncated season it was good to get some junior cricket played, which at one point looked unlikely.
Big thanks must go to the GMCL administrators for the work they have done behind the scenes to enable this.
The matches we have played have been competitive and enjoyable. Some excellent wins came against Saddleworth and Glodwick which put us top of the table from the outset and we never looked back.
Key contributions with bat and ball have come throughout the squad. Improvements have also been made in the fielding and wicketkeeping department which is great to see.
Game awareness has improved markedly throughout the team, and those that have been asked to captain the side have done so largely without input from the coach.
I've no doubt this squad will go onto achieve great things next summer if they all continue to work as hard at their game in training as they have this year.

GMCL Under 13s Cup
21st July - First Round - lost to Prestwich CC by 7 runs - Prestwich CC 74 for 7 off 20 overs GCC 67 all out
18th August PLATE Quarter final - GCC 102 for 4 beat Bury CC 101 for 7 by 1 run.
8th September - Plate Semi final - GCC lost to Unsworth CC by toss of a coin.

Under 13s - GMCL Cup Winners 2018
The 2018 "Invincibles" won every game winning the league and cup double. Coached and managed by Chris Sleight, this is Chris's GMCL Cup report:
The 2018 GCC Under 13s having made short work of the league with a 100% record, followed with a fantastic cup run with many contributions on route to winning the competition. With removal of some of the more restrcitive league rules, our young players seized the oppotunity to display their talents to the full.
Fin J scored a match winning 45* in the quarter final v Prestwich CC on 26th August, then defending only 121 Ethan S with 3 for 16 and Oli with 3 for 3 reduced the opposition to 19 for 6 ensuring a comfortable victory.
In particular Joe and Oli took advantage of the removal of the 30 run mandatory retirement rule. In the last 16 of the competition v Heywood CC on 19th August, the two opened the batting and batted undefeated for the full 15 overs. Oli finished with 66 not out from 49 balls and Joe 55 not out from 47. At the time this was thought to be a club record partnership for the Under 13 age group.
In the low scoring semi final v Glodwick CC on 18th September the two put on a match winning contribution 52 partnership in a game reduced to 12 overs per side, Oli scoring 26 and Joe 34*.
In the final v Royton CC on 23rd September, the pair came together with GCC in trouble on 15 for 2. Oli scored 76* from 53 balls and Joe 77 from 66, as the two passed their own club record set the previous month, this time adding 148 in a total of 172 for 3; ensuring GCC completed an incredible GMCL "double" for what we think was the first time in the club's 119 year history.
